What is a Giftventure?
Giftventure is a personalized treasure hunt service where a child receives a series of mysterious letters with puzzles from a mythical character. Solving the mystery leads to the discovery of a gift you've purchased and hidden somewhere in the child’s home, or anywhere you choose.
How is it ordered?
Ordering Giftventure is simple. Press the “Order/Redeem Giftventure” button at the top right of the web page. You will see two options:
1.) Click the button in the “Purchase Giftventure” box and select a product from the Adventures page. Press the “Purchase” button.
You can complete and personalize your order by entering information about the recipient(s), such as:
- Name and physical address of child(ren)
- Location you will hide a gift (e.g., “Look in the back of the closet”)
- Information such as a favorite game of the recipient and a local landmark that will be included in the story.
At the check out page, you can enter your payment information. Or, if you have received a gift code, you can redeem it at check out as well.
2.) The “Order/Redeem Giftventure” page also has a “Buy a Gift Code” box. Instead of personalizing a Giftventure yourself, you can give a gift code to the parent/guardian of a child, They can then redeem the gift code and personalize a Giftventure at a future date.
It takes less than five minutes to order a Giftventure.
How does it work?
A Giftventure is like a treasure hunt, only you don’t have to do the work! You simply choose a location to hide a gift that you provide, and let us create the adventure the child will use to find the gift. When you order, you will enter the hiding location and other pieces of personal information about the child, (such as a favorite game, or a local landmark), into our website. After that, we create and mail a customized story and set of puzzles, in which the final answer is the location of the gift. Imagine the surprise of a child who follows a pirate's instructions to find hidden treasure, and it’s really there!
What comes in a Giftventure?
Each Giftventure is tailored to the individual child and includes everything necessary for them to discover their gift, all while having a magical experience along the way. This experience is guided in a series of three to four mailers from the character you choose, including both 8” x 11.5” full-color letters, 12” x 18” full color posters, and numerous interactive puzzles and clues that lead to the location of the gift. Does Giftventure Studios provide the gift?
No, you provide the gift; we wrap your gift in an adventure. Stay tuned for gift bundling options in the near future.
What makes for a good Giftventure gift?

How old does a child need to be to enjoy a Giftventure?
Generally, children ages 4-12 will enjoy a Giftventure.
A child needs to be able to read a two-page letter and follow step-by-step instructions to solve a Giftventure on their own (usually ages 7-12).
Younger children (4-6) enjoy Giftventure experiences with assistance from parents or older siblings. A child who enjoys being read to for 5 minutes or longer would also enjoy the story of a single letter and solving the puzzles together with an adult or older sibling.
How is Giftventure delivered?
Giftventure Studios offers two delivery methods for the letters:
Standard Delivery - We send the mailers directly to the child, typically one sent every three days when an exact end date for completing the Giftventure is not necessary
Package Delivery - We send all of the mailers in a package to you or someone you designate. You distribute the letters according to your schedule and finish the Giftventure at your own convenience. Recommended when an exact end date is desired (birthdays, specific holidays, etc.)
How long will a Giftventure last?
With Standard Delivery, three mailers are sent over a week. Depending on the U.S. Postal Service delivery, the adventure can last between one and two weeks. Each mailer takes 2-7 days to arrive depending on your distance from Nevada (from where the letters are sent).
With Package Delivery, we send you a single package of letters that you distribute at your convenience. You control how long the Giftventure lasts.

How do I send a Giftventure to an adult for them to personalize and give to their child(ren)?
You can order a Giftventure Gift Code by clicking on the “Order/Redeem Giftventure” button at the top right of the web page. There is an option to purchase a Gift Code to send to another adult. After buying the code, you can either have us email it to the person you would like to give it to, or you can communicate the 7-digit gift code that you will receive in your order confirmation email to them on your own.
I have received a Giftventure Gift Code. How do I set up the Giftventure for my child?
Press the “Order/Redeem Giftventure” button at the top right of the web page. Click the button in the “Purchase Giftventure” box and select a product from the Adventures page. Press the “Purchase” button.
Complete and personalize your order by entering information about the recipient(s), such as:
- Name and physical address of child(ren)
- Location you will hide a gift (e.g., “Look in the back of the closet”)
- Information such as a favorite game of the recipient and a local landmark that will be included in the story.
At the check out page, you will see a blue button that says “Apply Gift Code”. Click on the button, enter your gift code into the blank field at the bottom, and hit “Apply” to redeem your gift code.
Which delivery option makes sense for me?
- Standard Delivery is most convenient for the purchaser, as no additional work is required once the gift is hidden. We send the mailers and the adventure just happens.
- Package Delivery gives the gift giver the advantage of controlling exactly when the adventure will start and finish. For example, if you want to have a Giftventure end on the child’s birthday, you have the flexibility to introduce the final letter on that exact day. You do not have to rely on the U.S. Postal Service for timing.
How do I send a Giftventure to multiple children in the same household?
Multiple names can be entered into the same Giftventure once you start configuring a product. For example, the letters would be addressed as follows: "Dear Frank and Alice."
What makes for a good location to hide a gift?
Choose a location that is:
- Written as if you are speaking to the recipient. (The character in the story will ultimately tell the child the location in these words)
- Easily accessible to the child, but not so common that the child is likely to accidentally find the hidden gift
- A place where you can hide a gift and not worry about it for a while
- Never use the same location twice! Children always check previous Giftventure locations
Not recommended
- "Look under my bed" – it is unclear who 'my' is. A better description would be “Look under Mommy’s bed”
- "Look under the kitchen table" – probably too obvious a location with everyday activity
- "Look in the dishwasher" – you can’t leave a gift in the dishwasher and not worry about it for a while
Recommended
- "Look in the blue suitcase in the hall closet" – location is easy to access while accidental discovery is unlikely
- "Look under the sheets in the linen closet" – location is easy to access while accidental discovery is unlikely
How do I make a Giftventure end on a specific date (e.g., a birthday) or on a U.S. Postal Service holiday when the post office won’t deliver mail?
There are two options:
- Choose Package Delivery, and we will send the mailers to you to deliver at your convenience.
- Order with Standard Delivery, and hold onto the last letter of the sequence (make sure you get the mail before the child does). You can then hand the child the last letter at your convenience. Make sure you adjust the calendar delivery dates so the last letter will be mailed at least 7 days before the day in question.
Do I have to make a Giftventure end exactly on a birthday?
That is personal preference. While some people prefer to have the Giftventure end on an exact date, others enjoy the idea that a Giftventure can lengthen the excitement of a birthday celebration.
How do I make a Giftventure span over a birthday (i.e., start before and end after the birthday)?
A Giftventure can lengthen the excitement of a birthday celebration. Choose "Standard Delivery" when ordering. Adjust the calendar delivery dates so the last mailer is sent just before or just after the birthday. It takes 2-5 days for the letters to arrive, depending on your distance from Nevada. Times may vary during the holiday season.
How do I order a Giftventure for my niece, nephew, grandchild, godchild, or a special child who lives away from me?
- You need to collaborate with the child’s guardian to determine the location where the gift will be hidden.
- You will need to get a gift for the guardian to hide, (or have the guardian purchase one for you). Make sure your gift arrives before the final Giftventure mailing date to be safe.
- You will need to share your Giftventure details with the guardian. If they have email and online access, you can have the Giftventure details automatically sent during the order process or from your member account page. You can also explain verbally the dates and what will happen. If they get stuck on the puzzle, you can access your online account to get the puzzle solution.
I am visiting children and want to surprise them with a Giftventure. What do I do?
Order the Giftventure with "Package Delivery" to the household you are visiting ahead of time, and collaborate with the child’s guardian. One fun option is to have the guardian deliver two letters before your arrival, and have you mysteriously present the third letter upon your arrival, (the guardian would hand you the third letter while the children are unaware).
How do I share my Giftventure detail information with someone else?
Sharing your information with a third party is very helpful if you are not living with the child. You can share your information by either entering a third party email address when you are signing up for a Giftventure, or you can do it later in your member account page.
The third party will receive an email with a link to your Giftventure details section. Once they sign up for an account, they will be able to access the information.
When can I start a Giftventure?
You choose an initial mailing date when you order a Giftventure. Each mailer typically takes 2-5 business days to arrive depending on your location from Nevada, (where the mailings originate).
- Everyday Giftventure Products: mailings occur on Mondays and Thursdays.
- Seasonal Giftventure Products: mailings are determined by the event. For example, the Christmas Giftventure mailing is scheduled to occur on set days. Priority mail is used to ensure timely delivery during the busy holiday season.

- What should I tell my child who seems very surprised to have received a letter from a mythical character?

What should I tell my child who seems very surprised to have received a letter from a mythical character?
Depending on your child, you may want to say one of the following:
1) The letter is from the mythical character, and let them enjoy their fantasy experience
2) If the fantasy experience is too much for the child, let them know they are part of a game, and that the fun will continue.
Is the U.S. Postal Service reliable enough?
Mail sent via the U.S. Postal Service with first-class postage is very reliable. Please make sure you check your mail carefully so that a Giftventure mailer is not accidentally thrown away with your junk mail.
I forgot my "location" where I was supposed to hide my gift. What do I do?
All of your Giftventure information can be found on your member account page .
I lost a piece of the puzzle. What do I do?
- We can resend a mailer for $9.95
- Some of the puzzle inserts can be downloaded and printed out from your member account page
- The letters are posted on the web site if you need to review the story line for a lost letter
We got all the materials and still can’t figure out the Giftventure puzzle.
Don’t worry – Giftventure is based on brand new puzzle types that not everyone gets immediately. You can log into your member account page and find a step-by-step solution guide to your puzzle.
How do I figure out the proper letter order, (we've accumulated several letters to give)?
The letter number in a series is written below the return address of the envelope. Letter #1 is first, Letter #2 is second, etc.
Can my child write a letter to a Giftventure character?
Yes. Address the letter to the return address on one of your envelopes. Note there is a number, and make sure to include that number when addressing the envelope. We may even write back if we have time.
Can I swap out my gift for a different gift in the location?
Yes. Giftventure puzzles lead to the location of the gift, but do not name the gift itself. You can simply put a new gift in the location and the Giftventure will work in the same way.
