Giftventure Privacy Policy
By using or providing information at this Site, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. “Site” refers to www.giftventure.com and any related domains controlled by Giftventure Studios Inc. (“Giftventure”). Giftventure does not seek to collect personal information from children - do not register at Giftventure if you are under the age of 13.
Protecting Your Privacy
Giftventure understands the importance of protecting private information. This includes protecting the personally identifiable information about yourself and the Giftventure recipients. “Personally identifiable information” and “personal information” mean information that can be used to identify an individual, including name, address, telephone number and credit card information. This Privacy Policy explains what personally identifiable information we collect and how we use the information so we can continue to provide high quality, personalized Giftventure experiences.
Giftventure does not sell the personal information that you provide to us. Except when we have your consent, we will only disclose personal information to our outside service providers (for example content printers, postal service and payment processing services) in order to provide the services you order and as described below.
How we Use and Protect Your Personal Information
When you register on the Site, you establish a password-protected personal account for customizing, ordering, and tracking Giftventure services. In order to establish your Giftventure account, we require your name, email address and password. The password will allow you access to your account; as such, you should select a password that is as secure as possible.
When you order Giftventure services and products, we collect the billing name and address, and recipient name and address. For your convenience for future purchases, we store your name and address on our servers in your password-protected account page, where you can access and edit its contents. We also require credit card and other financial information necessary to process payment for the services you order. The financial information that you enter is not stored by Giftventure, but is maintained by our payment service provider for the purpose of processing credit card payments made to Giftventure. This information is safeguarded with bank-level security and all credit card processing is done using industry-standard means to secure and encrypt your credit card and other personal information.
We require the name and address of the Giftventure recipient in order to deliver the Giftventure services and content that you order. To create a unique Giftventure experience customized for the recipient, we may ask about personal interests that we can use to dynamically tailor the story and content to the recipient. To assist you in finding age- and interest-appropriate Giftventure content and determine delivery dates, we may also ask for additional recipient information (e.g., age, gender and birthday). In our reminder service, we collect similar information to provide timely reminders with age-appropriate recommendations. To make it easier to choose and configure future Giftventure products, we store the recipient Giftventure product history and address information. This information about recipients is stored in your password-protected member account page and can be edited and deleted by you.
Sharing your Giftventure event information with others (such as the recipient’s guardian) is a key feature that helps to make a great Giftventure experience for all those involved. You can have an invitation with a web link sent to an email address you provide when ordering or from your password-protected member account page. They will be able to view your Giftventure details, the designated mailing address, and the recipient’s information for that Giftventure. The option to share your Giftventure is yours and only you are responsible for giving others access to personal information in this way.
Giftventure Studios will not add these third party email addresses to a mailing list, or send them further email unless they elect to receive such communications from us.
We may occasionally request information from users through surveys or contests. Participation in these surveys or contests is completely voluntary. The information requested by us (or a third party survey vendor on our behalf) may include personal information, demographic information or attitudinal information. The information collected is only used for purposes of improving user satisfaction with Giftventure Studios products and services, or in some cases, to notify winners and to deliver prizes and as otherwise described at the time you register for participation. No personal information collected through these means is shared with other third parties without your consent.
Testimonials are used to show benefits to certain programs Giftventure offers and may be posted on the Site. Giftventure will not include any personal information you provide in a testimonial without your consent.
If you refer Giftventure to your friends as part of a promotion, we will use their email addresses to send your invitation and to credit your account with free products per the terms of the promotion. We will not add their email addresses to a mailing list, and we will not send them further email unless they sign up and choose to receive such communications from us.
Giftventure may offer additional products and services, such as a gift recommendation service. These offers may incorporate Giftventure offerings or third party offerings sold through Giftventure. We may use your personal information to notify you about opportunities. No personal information collected through Giftventure purchases is shared with or made available to other third parties offering products or services to you without your consent.
Giftventure sends updates and offerings on a periodic basis to its members. You can opt out of such offerings by following instructions at the bottom of an email with an offering or in your password-protected member account page.
Any contact with our Customer Service team or communication from you, such as chat or emails, may be recorded and used to help us provide better service.
We sometimes use non-personally identifiable information that we collect to improve the design and content of the Site, to personalize our visitors' experience on the Site, and to offer products, programs, and services. This aggregate information may also be used and shared with others to analyze interest and usage, as well as to offer products, programs, or services.
Our server logs automatically collect information, such as your IP address, your browser type and language, and the date and time of your visit, which helps us track users’ movements around the Site and understand interest.
We may also assign your computer one or more cookies which may collect information to facilitate access to the Site and to personalize your online experience.
Protecting Your Information
Giftventure Studios uses state-of-the-art protection, including Secure Socket Layers (SSLs), to encrypt pages when collecting sensitive information such as your password or credit card number. This measure is designed to guard against interception of this information while it is on the Internet. You can tell if you are using a secure page by looking at the bottom of your browser window where you will see a lock. If the lock is closed, the page is encrypted.
The personal information you provide is stored on servers that are protected against intrusion or unauthorized access by firewalls and other technological means. The servers are located in physically secure facilities, and only Giftventure Studios employees and agents are given access on a need-to-know basis.
Who May Receive Personal Information
Giftventure relies on a number of third party service providers, such as professional printers, to create and fulfill orders. We will provide our service providers with your personal information only as necessary to process your requests and orders. These parties will generally be obligated to treat our users’ personal information confidentially.
We will disclose personal information we maintain when we believe it is required by law, for example, in response to a court order or a subpoena. We also may disclose such information in response to a law enforcement agency's or other public agency's (including schools or children services) request or if we feel that such disclosure may prevent crime. Finally, we may disclose personal information to a prospective purchaser of Giftventure acquiring all or most of the assets relating to Giftventure Studios, to the extent permitted by law. We may transfer personal information and store it outside of the jurisdiction in which a member of Giftventure Studios is located and, although such personal information will be protected by the security measures described in this privacy policy, it will be also be subject to local laws.
Upon receiving your consent, we may disclose your personal information to our sponsors and affiliates when you ask to participate in opportunities or events or receive information.
Effective Date
The privacy policy set out above is effective as of October 1, 2007, and applies to all information previously obtained by Giftventure. Giftventure reserves the right to change its privacy policy at its sole discretion. Giftventure users will be informed of any such change by posting a new privacy policy on the Site. The effective date of any change of privacy policy will be clearly marked.
